A lot of eye issues have systemic correlation and can lead to significant vision loss. At Montebello Optometry, Dr. Zamora handles and manages a vast majority of complex eye issues. See below. Walk-in emergencies are welcomed too :)
Myopia or near-sightedness is the inability to see objects that are far away. It is caused by the shape of the eye being elongated or the cornea is too steep, creating a focal point in front of the retina. Most people with myopia develop it in childhood and it gradually worsens as they get older. While there is no cure for myopia, treatment can slow the progression and help prevent the need for thick glasses as you age. Come by and get it treated ASAP.

You may know it as laser eye surgery. It works by changing the shape of the eye’s cornea, which then allows light to properly travel to the back of the eye so that your brain can correctly process it. This improves your vision and can overcome nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. At your initial consultation, Dr. Zamora will make sure that you’re a good candidate and go over your medical history. On post-operation, she will evaluate your progress.

Digital Eye Strain, or Computer Vision Syndrome, happens when we spend long periods of time in front of a screen. If you spend a lot of time on your computer or smartphone and you’ve noticed your eyes are sore at the end of the day, you’re likely suffering from digital eye strain. You should take a break from your screen every 20 minutes for at least 20 seconds and look at something 20 feet away. This will help give your eyes a much-needed break or come visit us to evaluate in more detail.

Cataracts are commonly associated with the aging process as your eye’s natural crystalline lens starts to become cloudy. It scatters and blocks the light preventing the creation of a sharp, clear, bright image. Because of the gradual development of cataracts, symptoms may not be noticeable until they become more advanced. We recommend annual eye exams to catch cataracts early. Dr. Zamora will evaluate, explain your options and refer you if you are ready for surgery.

Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the normally round cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape. This cone shape deflects light as it enters the eye on its way to the light-sensitive retina, causing distorted vision. In its mildest form, glasses and contacts may help. In severe or progressive cases, Dr. Zamora will evaluate and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
